CLN Concerned Launcestonians Network: Quite simply we are an informal network of people, citizens of the municipality, and our focus is on Launceston:
• As a place, a story place, a place we understand as home;
• As a city, a multifaceted city with multiple cultural realities;
• As a destination, with histories, a destination that is blessed with amenity;
• As an environment where its sustainability needs ongoing proactive protection;
• As an economy where we can conduct our businesses, practice our professions and where we can invest in preference to elsewhere;
• As a cultural landscape that offers a possibility for us to live out our cultural lives.
Given this, the ways that ‘governance’ is expressed and realised right here, right now, is never far from all the other aspects of our lives.
The network is made up of a diverse range of people, people with differing political alignments, people informed by different belief systems, people with diverse life experiences and educational backgrounds.
Agreement on all things, all the time is not anything people in the network aspire towards. However, developing better understandings of the things that make places like Launceston what they are is a constant.
It is the thing that brings people and their wherewithal to bear on all kinds of issues.
Here 'homelessness' is an enanthema and more than that, it is a blight on Launceston’s cultural landscape and upon Launcestonians' cultural realities.
That much CLN can claim an across the board endorsement.
